My Current Dev Machine and Setup
- My main machine is a late 2024 14-inch Macbook Pro with 48 GB memory. I absolutely love it and I don’t think I can get back to less than 48 GB memory at this point.
- With this being the typical usage while coding in the front-end, I don’t think I want to go back 🥲
- I use this Flexispot Standing Desk Converter as my back hurts if I sit down too much.
- I absolutely love this ULTi Anti Fatigue Mat when standing up.
- Much of the coding is done while wearing these Bose Quietcomfort Headphones on this Spotify playlist.
- I also have a pair of Jabra Elite 75t wireless earbuds, as going to the gym with those headphones is pretty nasty 🤢.
- For the last 6 years or so, I’ve bought and re-bought the Logitech G502 mouse as it fits my mouse grip well, and I am very comfortable with my Ducky One2 keyboard with red switches, thought I put noise suppressors on to not disturb the people around me 😷.
OS X Software
- Blogging. I am still very much new to this (I should have started this sooner), but I use Notion for blogging.
- Editors. Vim and Cursor with Vim keybindings. I used Vim for 10 years, and I still use it too, but Cursor code generation (within reason, of course) is just too fast.
- I frequently run terminal Vim on Tmux and Iterm. While I can move around in other people’s editor config decently (especially since almost all engineers are on VS Code or Cursor nowadays), Vim is still my first love when it comes to IDES. I did use Sublime Text before Vim though.
- My dotfiles (need to be updated) are here.

- OS X Tools.
- 🌞 Raycast (http://raycast.com/) as my Spotlight (
Cmd-Space
) replacement. I use Alfred before, but I find that Raycast has all features that I used there anyway, so I switched.
- I especially love Quicklinks, I have most of my favorite URLs bound to
Cmd-Shift-1
all the way to Cmd-Shift-0
.
- 🌚 Nightfall (https://github.com/r-thomson/Nightfall) to set Dark Mode on the system level. Keyboard bound to
Ctrl-Cmd-Shift-D
.
- 🪟 Rectangle (https://rectangleapp.com/) as a Window manager.
- 🏀 Shottr (https://shottr.cc/) as my Screenshot tool of choice.
Cmd-Shift-4
is bound to Capture Area Screenshot
and Cmd-Shift-5
is bound to Recognize Text/OCR
.
- 🥶 Freedom (https://freedom.to/) to block Facebook and Tiktok and those sites for 23 hours a day.
- 🧊 Ice (https://github.com/jordanbaird/Ice) to control what gets put on the menu bar.
- Chrome Extensions.
- 🏃🏾 Vimium because of the aforementioned Vim sickness lol.
- 💾 Save to Notion to, well, save to Notion lol. I used OneTab in the past and lost it when my last machine was wiped.
- 👮🏾 FakeFiller for just filling in forms for local development.
- 💼I occasionally dabble with LinkedIn Feed blocker.
- Language Learning.
- 🦉 Duolingo (My profile) to learn Spanish 🇪🇸 🇲🇽. Mi meta es aprender suficiente español para poder viajar por los países hispanohablantes.
- 🧑🏾🎓 I am also talking formal classes at Instituto Cervantes. I’m currently at A1, going to A2 level. My ultimate goal is to get to C1 or at least somewhere close.
- 🍓 I use Rememberry to add a fast way to translate from English to Spanish in my right click menu in Chrome.
- https://www.raycast.com/gebeto/translate for a quick Google Translate from
Cmd-Space
.
- Raycast setup.
